Hi %%FIRST_NAME%%,
Welcome to Meditation For Parents!
Before we dive in to the ‘main’ parts of this course, it’s really important to lay some foundations.
Today we’re going to look at where you’re currently ‘at’ and where you want to ‘be’.
If you were going to set out on a journey, you’d make sure you had chosen a destination, knew where you were starting from and had planned a rough route. Otherwise the likelihood of you ending up where you want to go is pretty low.
This course (and any shift you want to make in life) is just the same.
Here’s what we’re going to be covering today:
Laying The Foundations
- Taking a snapshot: Where ‘are’ you now?
- Setting your intention: Where do you want to ‘be’?
- Planning your route: What might stop you from getting there?
- Getting moral support: Who could you rope in as cheerleaders?
- Optional – 10 minute meditation audio
Taking A Snapshot: Where Are You ‘At’?
If you don’t know where you are, it’s hard to get to where you want to be.
Also, if you don’t know where you started, it’s difficult to spot the progress you’re making. And spotting your progress is one of the best ways to keep yourself motivated.
So we’re starting this 21 day course with a ‘snapshot’.
One of the easiest ways to notice the progress you’re making is to learn to take a ‘snapshot’ – to notice ‘where you’re at’ at the moment. If you do this every few weeks, you’ll really see the shifts.
Where are you?
Here are some simple questions that can help you to figure that out.
You might find it helps to write the answers down.
- Which emotions do you feel most often, during a typical day?
- How would you describe your stress levels?
- What speed does your mind typically think?
- How often do you actually taste your food, as you eat it?
- How often do you get to meditate?
- If you could make one change in your life, what would it be?
- How will you know when you have made that change?
- If you could give one piece of advice to yourself, right here, right now, what would it be?
If you’d like to share your answers to any of these questions, here’s a special ‘snapshot’ discussions thread on the private members-only forum:

The forum is a key part of this course and it’s where to get answers to your questions, to share your experiences and to offer moral support to others, too. If a technique works brilliantly for you, tell the others on the course in the forum! If you get stuck on something or have questions, make the most of the support in the forum!

10 Minute Meditation
Throughout this course – and beyond – you might want to carve out ten minutes of your day to experience this guided meditation. (It’s the same one as in yesterday’s message).
It’s easy to do.
All you need to do is to sit comfortably and follow the instructions.
Ten Minute Meditation
You can listen to it online here:

Or, better option, right click on the link below and choose ‘save as’ to download the MP3 to your favourite player and listen to it somewhere peaceful.
That’s it for today. I hope you have found it useful.
You’ll get your next email tomorrow, so you can dive in and make a start by dealing with the number 1 meditation excuse.
See you then!
Namaste,
Have you had a chance to share your experiences, insights and questions over at the forum yet?
