It’s official – spring is here! Yesterday saw the “Spring Equinox”, which is the official marker for the transition from winter to spring in the Northern Hemisphere.
For so many of us, winter is something we “grit our teeth and get through”. Spring heralds the start of longer days, warmer weather and, hoepfully, more sunshine. Obviously it depends on where you live, but spring often signals new hope for the year.
If you’re anything like me, although all the seasons are fab in their own way, I sometimes feel like I hibernate through winter. I’m less keen to rush outside if it’s windy and drizzly (usual UK winter weather!) and feeling happy can take extra effort.
But once spring is here it’s like we’re on a roll to the sunny fun of summer. Even my boys’ mood changes. Blue skies, trees with leaf buds, grass starting to grow again, daffodils smiling away, animals waking up, baby birds…
Find out why this weekend is such a good time to make changes.
All these are signs that spring is here.
And with the change of season often comes renewed hope. People feel more positive. It’s like a fresh start, a new beginning.
This year sees a full moon and the Easter celebrations around the Spring Equinox, too, which is a rare combination. I read somewhere this week that it only happens every 300 years, but I’m not sure whether that’s true! 3 symbols of new beginnings – too good an opportunity to miss?
So, how about it? New Year Resolutions are long gone, so isn’t it great to have another chance to start again?
Is there something you want to change about your life? About your thought patterns? About your emotions? Are you ready to take the steps you want to, no matter how big or small, to feel happier?
With such an auspicious combination of “change factors” running, I invite you to take one action today, to feel happier. If you were to spend just 5 minutes on this today, what would you do?
I find this really exciting – it’s like having a birthday present wish list, but I don’t need to worry about anyone else giving me anything, because it’s all stuff I can give myself. So today, I’m making a promise to myself that I’m going to “destress the mess“. With a 3 year old and 8 month old in tow, life easily gets cluttered and messy. So I’m going to play with the idea of finishing everything I start, before I start the next job. This means that, though I’ll often be interrrupted by my “little Angels”, when I get back to what I was doing, I’ll finish it before moving on to the next thing. For some of you this might sound really obvious, but for me it’s going to make a profound difference to the flow of my day – and life in general. Just doing one thing at a time – now that’s a new one for me (Queen of super-multi-tasking!). I’ll let you know how I get on!
One of the best ways to cement a change in our lives is to tell others about it, so how about getting started and adding a comment to this blog, telling me what you’re going to do?
Happy Spring!
Lots of love,
