It’s never too late“There is no reason to hesitate when you know that you have nothing to lose”.

That’s a quote from an email I received as part of Neale Donald Walsch’s mailing list today.

It’s one of those quotes that made me literally stop in my tracks. My conscious mind was desperately trying to come up with counter arguments, but it couldn’t. The rest of my mind stood still and smiled at this undoubtable cosmic truth.

Spring is here!

How To Change Your Life

Spring is hereIt’s official – spring is here! Yesterday saw the “Spring Equinox”, which is the official marker for the transition from winter to spring in the Northern Hemisphere.

For so many of us, winter is something we “grit our teeth and get through”. Spring heralds the start of longer days, warmer weather and, hoepfully, more sunshine. Obviously it depends on where you live, but spring often signals new hope for the year.

If you’re anything like me, although all the seasons are fab in their own way, I sometimes feel like I hibernate through winter. I’m less keen to rush outside if it’s windy and drizzly (usual UK winter weather!) and feeling happy can take extra effort.

But once spring is here it’s like we’re on a roll to the sunny fun of summer. Even my boys’ mood changes. Blue skies, trees with leaf buds, grass starting to grow again, daffodils smiling away, animals waking up, baby birds…

3 Reasons to feel happy today

Every day presents its own new and unique challenges.

Some days it’s easy to feel happy. Others you would happy shoot the next person who tells you to “cheer up”.

One of the easiest ways to consistently increase your “HQ” or “Happiness Quotient” is to keep a journal of the (genuine) reasons you feel happy each day. It doesn’t matter if you can only think of one. No matter how bad your day has been, there has to be one reason for you to feel happy.

If you write it down, you’re telling the part of you that manages how you think and feel that happiness is what you most want to focus on. The impact that can have on your thoughts, feelings and actions is profound – it’s like retuning the radio.

Extreme conference calling…

Practise what you preach, girl!

That’s what I’ve been reminding myself this evening.

conference callI was taking part in an important, 15 person conference call from home (UK) with people in The States. The schedule meant the call would clash with what we lovingly call “The Witching Hour”- the hour before the kids’ bedtime. But I arranged our day so they would be calm and Theo would probably sleep through it. Louis is generally good at amusing himself if needed with a few good jigsaws and his train tracks. So all was looking good.

20 minutes into the call, Theo decides to scream so loudly they could hear him (literally) from the USA to Australia. Then Louis – always the picture of health – vomits. Twice. I spend the rest of the hour cleaning up and consoling the boys, whilst listening with half an ear to the call via the internet in the background.
